Who should have the Optomap®
We recommend the optomap ultra-wide digital retinal scan on everyone, as it is the only method by which we can truly check the health of the retina. It is generally recommend that you have the optomap scan everytime you have an eye examination, but Bella will advise you based on your own individual circumstances.
It is also recommended for children as many eye problems start at an early age. In fact, this is how the optomap story started. In 1990, 5 year old Leif Anderson went blind in one eye due to an undiagnosed retinal detachment, even though he was having regular eye exams. Distressed by the diagnostic methods available for a thorough eye examination, Leif's father, Douglas, designed the optomap retinal scan.
